The challenge
Deep Creek needed their production capacity increased. They wanted a complete automation and control solution for a new brewery to implement in their growing manufacturing plant.

The solution

The tech
One of the critical aspects of the upgrade was integrating advanced technology, including Beckhoff IPC & HMI with integrated TwinSAFE safety. This compact, all-in-one solution provides both PLC control and safety, communicating seamlessly with ABB VSDs and remote IO.
IFM sensors were also integrated into the system to provide real-time monitoring of critical parameters such as flow and temperature. This, in combination with the PID control system, ensures consistent quality and maximum efficiency in every batch.
Remote access was made possible with the integration of the Ixon Router, allowing us to monitor and control the brewing process from anywhere, at any time. The safety of our operators was a top priority, and we achieved this by implementing new safety fencing and Pilz request-to-enter door locks.
The recipe delivery was also streamlined, with the brewery ERP software integration. This ensures that every batch is brewed to the same high standard, every time.
Finally, SMC pneumatics were used to control the valves and actuators, ensuring precise and reliable control of the brewing process.
